Here's how to use emojis on a Chromebook:
You can access the emoji picker in a few different ways:
Right-Click Menu: In most text fields, you can right-click and select "Emoji" from the context menu. This will open the emoji picker.
Keyboard Shortcut: The most common way to access the emoji picker is by using the keyboard shortcut: Search + Shift + Space
. (The "Search" key is often located where the Caps Lock key is on a traditional keyboard. It may also be represented by a magnifying glass icon.). This is like bringing up the emoji%20keyboard.
On-Screen Keyboard: If you're using the on-screen keyboard (for tablet mode or accessibility), you should see an emoji icon on the keyboard itself. Tapping this icon will open the emoji picker.
Once the emoji picker is open, you can:
Browse by Category: Emojis are organized into categories (smileys & emotions, people & body, animals & nature, food & drink, travel & places, activities, objects, symbols, flags). Click the icons at the bottom of the picker to switch between categories.
Search for Emojis: There's usually a search bar within the emoji picker. Type keywords (e.g., "happy," "cat," "pizza") to find relevant emojis quickly. This is useful to do a emoji%20search.
Select and Insert: Simply click on the emoji you want to use, and it will be inserted into your text field.
Recently Used Emojis: The picker typically keeps track of your recently used emojis for easy access in the future. This can be called your recent%20emojis section.
